Loukhoum by Keiko Mecheri
When describing beauty, happiness or love, i.e. all that we deem the most pleasant in our lives, we very often turn to our sense of taste. It may stem from the subconscious desire to explore the object of our admiration in the most direct and concrete way possible – by tasting it.
In Arabic, the word ‘attar’ stands for both the sense of taste and that of smell and, in order to truly appreciate the wisdom of that notion, one should taste authentic loukhoum (i.e. Turkish delight) and breathe in its aroma.

When trying Loukhoum by Keiko Mecheri, you forget that you are just smelling it: honeyed rose and almonds in powdered sugar seem to literally melt in your mouth. Loukhoum by Keiko Mecheri is sheer happiness amid real abundance. The edible rose is not at all sticky, instead, it spreads its tender petals and their delicate fragrance seeps into the sweet thickness of the honey, making it lighter and gently perfuming it. The almond note balances out the sweetness of the composition: it toys with its own wealth of gustatory and olfactory facets, which seem piercing at one moment, sweet and languid the next.
If I were to follow the notorious marketing tradition of describing a prospective happy owner of a fragrance, I would definitely suggest Loukhoum to gorgeous and timid wives of a sheikh, with their almond-shaped languishing eyes, honey-sweet lips that are red as roses, with bodies and moves so perfectly smooth that they can only provoke desire and longing in a man. But honestly, Loukhoum would bring joy to any Woman, especially during the colder months ahead of us.
